Why Adopt A Rescue
Available for Adoption
Stevie is a 5 year old sable male. He was picked up as a stray prior to coming into rescue. He was one lucky little boy as Stevie is blind and seems to have been born this way. Stevie has been diagnosed with Microphthalmia, but it does not stop him from being a normal, happy little sheltie. He can manage a house full of furniture and even go up/down one or two steps on his own. He moves about with his sense of smell and sound. He enjoys playing with another dog his size and does well with cats. Stevie is proving to be crate trained and doing really well with his housebreaking. There are resources available for owners of blind dogs, an excellent site is www.blinddogs.com; Blind dogs do quite well, especially when they have another dog to help them find their way around. It is truly amazing to watch a dog take on the role of guide for a blind new "brother" or "sister". A fenced yard is a MUST for his safety and well being. Stevie is being fostered in West Virginia but transportation to MD is available for the right home.
Stevie has gone to his new forever home with a wonderful family in NJ.
