Shelbie Shelbie is an 11 yr old female collie/sheltie mix weighing 58 lbs. She was owner surrendered because they didn't have time for her. She was their dog for her entire 11 yrs. Shelbie is housebroken, loves to be by your side, loves to be petted , get along with other dogs. She lived with cats before and is fine with them. She likes going for walks and this should help with getting off those extra lbs she needs to lose. She is already on a reducing diet to get her into top shape. She would be fine with well behaved, older children that understand that some dogs need their space. She is very gentle. Shelbie is being fostered in the Harrisburg, PA area. Buddy This beautiful, sweet senior boy is ready for his new home. Buddy is about 12 years old. He is very friendly, affectionate and loves attention. He wants to be part of the family, he gets along well with other dogs and even cats! He is very well behaved, can do limited steps. He would be a great companion in a quiet household. He does have a bit of arthritis and is doing well on his medication. This friendly boy is ready to go home! ******************************************
Cody Imagine what this poor boy thought when he lost his home at 14 years old. Cody is 25 lbs overweight and has a deformed front foot that makes getting around even harder. So we begin the process once again of getting the weight off, getting him to move around a bit and make the rest of his life more pleasant. He has been vetted and is otherwise healthy. We are looking for an adoptive or foster home local to the north east MD area, with no steps and no small children. His current temporary foster home has a home made ramp from the kitchen out to the garage so he can go outside and that works well. As he looses weight we think he will be able to get around much better. He deserves a chance to live out his golden years in peace. ******************************************
Ringo Ringo's owner died and he ended up in a shelter. He is about 8 years old. He gets along well with other dogs. Ringo has developed a bit of a tendency to be territorial; we are working with him and he needs an owner who will continue to work with him so he is not so reactive when a stranger comes into his house. Ringo is crate trained. He walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. Fenced yard preferred. No small children. ******************************************
Louis UPDATE: 4/18/08 Louis has been diagnosed with Canine Dermatomyocitis. This is a genetic, non contagious disease that afflicts mostly collies and shelties. It is not curable, but it is treatable, and Louis has begun treatment. We wish to thank those who are donating towards his vet bills. We still have a road ahead of us, but we are making progress. Nearly two years ago, Louis came to the Harford County Humane Society as a rescue from an animal hoarder. Louis, along with 76 other animals from the same home were cared for by the Humane Society staff and volunteers until permanent homes could be found. Louis was adopted, but unfortunately, he was returned recently because his family was moving and couldn't take him along. We have taken him into our rescue. Louis is a little sad to look at -- his hair is thin and the rear of his body is almost hairless. After at least two years of him suffering we are determined to find the cause and help him heal. It may be a while before he is ready to go to a new home, but we will do all we can to help him. This will involve blood work, testing, and skin biopsies. Please consider donating to help us help Louis. Pictures and bio will be updated as we progress through the testing and treatment. Louis is about 9 years old. Thank you!! ******************************************
Molly Molly is a tri-color female between 3 and 6 years old, but she acts like a puppy! She loves to run and play, fetch a ball, roll a basketball around with her nose. She will toss around her stuffed toys and likes a good game of tug.. She is full of energy, affectionate, and playful. She wants to be a lap dog and loves everyone. Molly would do best with a dog that wouldn't mind her exuberance and would like a playmate; she tries to get the other dogs to chase her! She is extremely bright, attentive and anxious to please-she responds wonderfully to attention and affection. She would be a great prospect for agility or rally obedience. Molly is crate trained. A fenced yard is required. ******************************************
Gina Gina is a mahogany sable sheltie mix girl of about 3 years. She was relinquished because her previous owner had some health issues develop that was going to confine her to a wheelchair. Gina is an active girl and needed a more active home. She is housebroken, does not like being in a crate (will bark), listens very well. Does great with the other dogs and the cats. She is not afraid of being around small children either. At this point she a tiny bit over weight but more exercise will take care of that. Gina will also do well in agility training. Fenced yard required. |
